Summer is almost here and everybody knows what that means… music festivals. Today, our team will be curating the ultimate list of music festivals in Spain you can’t miss this summer, selected by our Melboss team. Whether you are a fan of indie, rock, pop, rap, reggae, or electronic music, be sure to check out this must-attend for music lovers. Primavera Sound

Regarded as one of the most iconic festivals not only nationally, but at a European level as well, the Primavera sound music festival is one of the most important music events you can’t miss this summer. The renowned Spanish festival has brought over the years your favorite national and international artists to the stage, and this year couldn’t be less.

A lineup of different talents from the pop, rock, indie, underground, and electronic music scene will lead the concerts held in the Parque del Forum in Barcelona from the 1st to the 3rd of June. And that’s not all… the festival will also take place in Madrid the next weekend. Some of the artists we will enjoy in this year’s performance include Rosalía, Fred Again, Bad Gyal, and Charlotte de Witte. The festival also offers dates in Portugal, Argentina, Colombia, and Brazil.

Sónar

Taking place the 15th, 16th and 17th of June in the city of Barcelona, Sonar is considered one the most innovative music festivals in Spain. It features a mix of electronic music, digital art, and technology. And that’s not all… the lineup includes some of the biggest names in the electronic music game and artists of the urban scene, as well as up-and-coming emergent talents. But if this is not enough for you, the festival also hosts a range of workshops, talks, and exhibitions, making it a unique and immersive experience. Some of the names in the lineup include Amelie Lens, Black Coffee, or La Zowi.

MadCool

Even though the festival is one of the newest with its first edition in 2016, Madcool has burst onto the music scene and won’t stop growing. The appraised festival has been recognized internationally as the “European Coachella” for bringing together international music stars of different genres. The festival has won numerous awards and accolades, including “Best International Festival” at the UK Festival Awards.

This year’s cultural encounter is dated from the 6th to the 8th of July in the Spanish capital, Madrid. Some examples of this year include Robbie Williams, Lizzo, The Black Keys, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Jacob Collier.

Bilbao BBK Live

If you didn’t already guess, the recent Iberian Award winner for  “Best Festival” takes place annually, held in the city of Bilbao. Held from the 6th to the 8th of July, its popularity has led to attracting the most diverse lineup of artists from all around the world from different genres. The music festival Bilbao BBK Live is also known for its awing setting in the Kobetamendi mountains, offering its attendees the most breathtaking views of the city. This year we will be able to enjoy the performances of artists like Florence + The Machine, Amaia, Arctic Monkeys, Love of Lesbian, or Morgan.

Afroblues

With only two editions, the Afroblues festival has been established as a music event out-of-this-world. With a top-tier experience from the moment you set for in its grounds, you will be transported to an atmosphere of high-end entertainment, enjoying performances that will get you off your feet at one of the most romantic and sensational views in Segovia.

Dated to be held the 9th and 10th of June, the festival brings together talented international artists from the black music scene: Blues, Soul, Jazz, Funk… and the perfect opportunity to let loose, dance, and savor the music you love in a truly relaxed setting! Some of the must-see artists to watch in this edition include The Main Squeeze, The Buttshakers, or Tonina. The own festival offers a playlist with its top hits, so make sure you give it a listen.

FIB

The FIB (Festival Internacional de Benicasim) music festival is one of the most established in Spain. It is held in the coastal town of Castellón and has been running for over two decades. Featuring a diverse lineup of indie, rock, and electronic music, you will be able to enjoy some of the most popular acts in the industry.

This festival is also known for its undisturbed atmosphere and stunning location, with the beach just a short walk from the main stage. This year’s edition will take place from the 13th to the 16th of July, where you will enjoy performances from artists like Bastille, Vetusta Morla, Tom Odell, Crystal Fighters, Sigala, Benson Boone, Las Ginebras or La La Love You.

Sonorama Ribera

Sonorama Ribera is a popular music festival that takes place in the charming town of Aranda de Duero, Spain. Known for its eclectic lineup and praised by indie lovers, Sonorama Ribera has been a favorite among music enthusiasts for over 20 years. The festival showcases both local and international artists, offering a unique opportunity to discover new talents and enjoy some of the biggest names in the indie genre such as Mr.Kilombo, Carolina Durante, La pegatina, or Alizzz . With a lively and friendly atmosphere, Sonorama Ribera is a must-visit for anyone who loves music and wants to experience the vibrant culture of Spain.

Viña Rock

Get ready to rock out, baby! Although its dates are quite sooner than the rest, this music festival is worth the mention. For over two decades, the ultimate rock festival has been taking place in Villarobledo, Albacete. But it’s not just about rock – the festival boasts an amazing lineup of Spanish and Latin American reggae and rap artists too!

With a top-notch music experience guaranteed, you can expect to see some of the biggest names in the game, including Delaossa, Los Chikos del maíz, Ska-P, La M.O.D.A and Green Valley. So if you’re looking for a fusion experience and a legendary festival, don’t think twice, this is the festival you’re looking for. 

Dreambeach or Aquasella for electronic lovers; Riverland or Bombastic for urban fans; Festival Cabo de Plata for indie lovers…the list could go on and on.
